Who We Are
The Coach Algeo Fund is a charitable fund located in Montgomery County in suburban Philadelphia, and established in loving memory of Jim Algeo, Mickey Algeo, and Danny Algeo. Jim Algeo was a longtime high school football coach and business teacher at Lansdale Catholic High School. Accumulating 294 W's over his 44 year career - including a state title in 2004 and numerous Hall of Fame inductions - he is one of the winningest coaches in PA history. Mickey Algeo, his beloved 'Bride' of 60 years, raised 9 athletic children, was an administrative assistant at Gwynedd Mercy University, and picked up a thing or two about coaching over the years. Danny Algeo was their loving son and successful high school football coach at Cardinal O'Hara and Roman Catholic, and one of only 2 coaches in Philadelphia Catholic League history to win PCL titles at two different schools. And on top of all of these accomplishments, they were just really nice people.
Jim, Mickey, and Danny Algeo battled health conditions that caused significant suffering at the end of their lives, and took them from us too soon. They dedicated their lives to education and consistently gave of themselves in service to others. Sometimes, unfortunately, that meant overlooking caring for themselves. This is often the case with teachers, coaches, staff, and others in education, who so often put the needs of others before themselves. The Coach Algeo Fund seeks to help others in their chosen profession avoid the health issues that they faced, through mobile screenings, awareness, and research. Together, we can help people improve their health and their lives, while honoring the memory of these 3 wonderful people.
